Antique American Redware Pitcher 19th Century Original Signed
Antique 19th century American redware huge batter pitcher measuring 8 1/2" high. This is a very typical Pennsylvania Dutch or New England piece of Americana redware but made rare because of the shaped decorated lid and the name of the owner, Mrs. Bunt. Nice deep pumpkin orange glaze with manganese splashes and a coggled wheel design both on the body and lid. There are a few chips and some glaze chipping from use. There is also a very tight hairline that is pictured that starts on the bottom and goes up the side 1 1/2". Still nice for something over 150 years old that was a utilitarian piece and a rarity. I have never had another piece of redware with the owner's name on it - more common in stoneware pieces. PG15
